- TRAINING IS BACK NATIONAL MASTERS ATHLETIC DIARY CLUB MEMBERSHIP LYONS DONATION

Looking forward as the club affiliates its fun troop of athletes for the calendar year in a massive range of discipline­s at track and field, cross country, schools, Avondhu, Community Games and open fun sports events.

Volunteer appeals are being made to families to assist the many club activities e.g. fundraisin­g, purchase equipment, transport-organising track training-events at local and other venues at Nenagh, Clonmel,

Templemore, CIT and UCC, etc. Many hands to make light work are welcome, as are new athletes to hone the fun skills of running, jumping and throwing.

Training resumed on Tuesday and Friday in Kilworth Astro at 6pm; Thurs at Coláiste Fionnchua Mitchelsto­wn indoors at 6.45pm. Sunday at O’Connell Park at 10am.

At the national indoor masters championsh­ips in Athlone on Saturday, Seamus Fox garnered long jump bronze and high jump 4th.

Jan 20 Athlone National U20/23 Indoors. Club athlete Kotryna Pecerinska­ite competes in shot put and weight with distance.

Sat, Jan 27. Club tour to Nenagh Olympic Stadium. On a newly laid track, club athletes born 2015 upwards can experience the real novelty of participat­ion where their role models have honed their skills. It’s €15 for athletes and family members to travel on the bus. Book ASAP.

Sunday, Jan 28 Avondhu tour to Nenagh for juveniles.

Feb 4/5 Nenagh U12-19 Munsters indoors. Feb 17 Athlone national seniors indoors. Feb 24/25 Nenagh Munster 12-19 indoors. March 2/3 Nenagh Munster U12-19 relay indoors.

Membership entitles Athletic Ireland insurance to train, compete and be part of a fun squad. It is a mandatory feature for all from January 1 onwards covering the calendar year.

Lyons Family Pharmacy offered a kind donation of a travel pack First Aid kit. The Lyons boys, Brendan and Michael, represente­d Ireland in mountain running and rowing back in the day, Michael is still running with Grange Fermoy A.C.
