The Avondhu

Dry break at last!

-

This past week has seen our course dry nicely during the cold, bright, frosty winter days. Our greens have been in good condition and our fairways pleasantly dry. Frost has seen the course opening later in the day occasionally but, on getting out there, one realises quickly it has been worth the wait. We are indeed fortunate to have such a facility in Mitchelstown.

We remain open to new members and are happy to hear from anyone interested in taking up the game, whether for the first time or after a period of absence. For any information on joining and information on our favourable rates, please contact Dolores on 025-24072 (Mon – Fri 9am to 1pm).

JUNIOR GOLF

We have arranged for group golf lessons at the

Fermoy driving range with golf pro Mark Collins. These are the dates and times for the juniors (including any newcomers you may know who might be interested in taking up golf) - lessons commence on Saturday, 27th Jan and continue for four consecutive Saturdays from 4-5pm.

Cost-wise, we are looking at €5 each for a bucket of balls and €5 each for the lessons.

45 CARDS

Although several hams and chickens have now been won by a variety of “card sharks”, there remains an appetite for continued competition and we anticipate continuing card games in the clubhouse whenever six like-minded people are present, and ready/willing to cast, shuffle, deal and engage. Each encounter promises to deliver debate, analysis, advice and challenge. Call in to join in – please text Clem on 086-8912769 to be included in the “Six for Cards” WhatsApp group and be kept in the loop.

GOLF SOCIETY BOOKINGS

The club is currently formalising the events calendar for next year. We have already taken several golf society bookings for 2024. To avoid disappointment for next year we are advising that golf society secretaries contact Dolores on 025-24072 during office hours or by email at info@mitchelstown-golf. com to reserve your preferred date and time. If Mitchelstown’s superb golf course is on your list of “must play” courses for 2024, we look forward to hearing from you ASAP.
