Great support for Kilworth GAA fundraiser

- JOHN AHERN

Following a big push by club volunteers, last Saturday night's Kilworth GAA fundraiser in The Firgrove Hotel, Mitchelstown, was a resounding success.

The event, which was a discussion by hurling experts on the forthcoming championship, attracted a 300 strong crowd. Indeed, the occasion had a 'social' feel to it, with patrons enjoying preshow drinks before formalities began. Club activists, Kieran Lane, Pat O'Brien, Brian Sheehan and Liam Whelan, took the lead when it came to ticket sales and thanks to their efforts, the night was a great financial success.

EXPERT PANEL

The expert panel, which was chaired by T.J. Ryan, comprised: Dan Shanahan, Donie Ryan, Seamus Callanan, Mark Landers and Anthony Daly. What ensued was lively debate interspersed with plenty jokes and good humour. The audience was very engaged by the entire process and the discussion struck the perfect balance between being informative and entertaining.

Proceedings also involved a special presentation to club stalwart, Mossie McNamara, who has given outstanding service to his club, on and off the field.

BIG PLANS IN KILWORTH

Always a progressive club, Kilworth GAA will, during the course of 2024, commence work on a major redeveopment plan that will see the existing dressingrooms replaced. This is just part of an upgrade that, when complete, will ensure Kilworth GAA has top of the range facilities.

LOOKING FORWARD TO A BUSY AND HOPEFULLY SUCCESSFUL YEAR

Going on last year's form, Kilworth will once again have a big say in this year's championship. It should be remembered that they were involved in an epic county final against Castlelyons that could easily have swung the way of the north Cork side.

LATE NIGHT ENTERTAINMENT TIME WAITS FOR NO MAN

Following the panel discussion, patrons were treated to some brilliant music courtesy of Ellie O'Brien and Colin Landers. In conclusion, the occasion was a wonderful organisational and financial success for everyone associated with Kilworth GAA.
