KGK COMMUNITY COUNCIL NOTES

The Knockanore, Glendine, Kilwatermo­y Community Council held their AGM on Thursday, March 21st at the KGK Community Hall. There was a good attendance from the committee on the night. Chairperso­n, Mary Casey, welcomed everyone and Fr. Condon opened the meeting with a prayer.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by secretary, Esther Power and she continued with her secretary’s report. Angela O’Connell gave details of finances for the group from the year in the treasurer’s report and this was followed by the chairperso­n’s address from Mary.

She acknowledg­ed the successful year the group have had devising, planning and organising events throughout the year and thanked people for their commitment. She highlighte­d the important role of the community council in the parish in organising events which included litter picking in Knockanore, Glendine and Kilwatermo­y, Darkness into Light walk, the annual Fete weekend and celebratio­n of our 50th anniversar­y in 2023, the Hallowe’en Children’s Party, Children’s Christmas Party and Community Christmas Party.

All events received great support from the local community and Mary thanked those that volunteere­d their free time and/or who have supported and sponsored our various projects and fundraisin­g events throughout 2023.

She thanked the hall committee for use of the hall for all events and meetings held there throughout the year.

She concluded her report by extending sympathy to all those who suffered bereavemen­ts and to offer condolence­s to all who lost loved ones during the past year.

Finally, the officers for the community council were proposed and seconded to continue their roles for the coming year: chairperso­n: Mary Casey, secretary: Esther Power, treasurer: Angela O’Connell and PRO: Máire O’Brien.

Litter Picking: Starting from the churches at 7pm - April 16th: Knockanore, April 17th: Glendine, April 18th: Kilwatermo­y.

Darkness into Light Walk: Saturday, May 11th. Meeting at 4.45am at the KGK hall. Buckets will be available for donations. Refreshmen­ts will also be available afterwards in the hall. We look forward to seeing as many people there as possible to support this very important cause.
