Preschoolers take centre stage at open day
Fermoy Community Preschool held its annual open day last Sunday. The event ran from noon until 2pm, with a steady stream of visitors dropping in to the College Road building.
Here, they were met by helpful staff, who gave guided tours, provided key information and answered a variety of questions.
AWARD WINNING FACILITY
In existence for over 40 years, Fermoy Community Preschool is staffed by a team of committed profesionals, whose primary aim is the personal and social devolpment of the young people in their care. The centre's professionalism has been recognised on several occasions, with the prechool winning numerous awards over the years. Currently the preschool has 70 children on its books.
LEARNING THROUGH PLAY
For children, being part of Fermoy Community Preschool is an enjoyable experience and youngsters have access to a variety of 'educational playgrounds'. While routine is important, every preschool day has an element of excitement and adventure.
LONG SERVING CHAIRMAN
In 1982, prominent trade unionist and former town councillor, Tadhg O'Donovan, was elected to the post of preschool chairman - remarkably, he continues to hold that position. His fellow directors are Kathleen Lee (treasurer) and Helen Hutton ( secretary). Committee members include Rose Fitzgerald, Catriona Lacey and Lisa Crowley.
