Busy times ahead

Games will be coming thick and fast over the next few week as league matches really start to take off. We have been playing a few challenge games recently where all the members of the senior and junior panels are getting some well-deserved game time.

Last week we took on neighbours Ballyduff in a practice game in Castlelyons. Our challengers ply their trade in the Intermediate grade in Waterford so they are pushing hard for promotion this year. Castlelyons played a mix of Senior and Junior hurlers on the day with some great skills on show. Oscar Hallihan, wearing an unaccustomed number 6 on his back doing a marking job, performed well as did James Kearney in midfield. It was great to see Eoin Maye back wearing the Castlelyons jersey after returning from Down Under recently. Eoin pulled up in the 2nd half with a tight hamstring so we hope it is nothing too serious as he was really flying it. Ronan Fenton was pulling strings in the half forward line and is benefiting from a lot of early season game time. Brian Spillane and Cees

Kouwenberg both performed well in the full forward line and were constantly moving trying to find space. Ballyduff came down to play hurling as well though and former Waterford senior Michael Kearney was excellent for the west Waterford side throughout and pulled the strings for them for the whole game. Ballyduff were 6 points in front when the referee blew the final whistle which they were good value for.

Looking forward to the coming weeks as we take on Bride Rovers next Tuesday in the Junior League at home, which promises to be a great game.
