-

THE Corkman Newspaper is delighted to announce the appointment of Kevin Hughes as the paper’s new group editor.

Kevin will take up his new role in the coming weeks and will replace the current editor, Brendan Malone.

The father of three - Conor (5), Anna Mai (4) and Harry (17mths) - is originally from County Antrim and has been a part of The Kerryman/Corkman Group since 2004. He has worked as reporter with The Kerryman and previously as a sub-editor with The Corkman and The Kerryman in both the news and sports sections of the sister publications.

He says he is looking forward to his new role and to the challenges that lie ahead. “It’s an exciting prospect and I’m honoured to be part of a publication that was founded 50 years ago,” he said.

“I would like to wish Brendan the very best, he has been an extremely personable and diligent editor who has led a quality product that continues to set the agenda in North Cork, Avondhu and Muskerry.

“I am also looking forward to working with The Corkman’s contributors and the experienced reporting team of Maria Herlihy and Bill Browne. Both are strong reporters who have developed solid links with the local communities in their respective areas.”

Joining Kevin in the role of Deputy Editor will be Dónal Nolan who is an experienced reporter within The Kerryman/ The Corkman Group.

Managing Director INM Regionals West, John Feerick, also paid tribute to Kevin, whose appointment he says will further enhance The Corkman. He has also paid tribute to outgoing editor, Brendan Malone, for his extensive service to the paper.
