Camera club crew added to ‘Artiste Fédération Internationale de l’Art’
MEMBERS of Mallow Camera club who went to Mullingar last weekend for the Irish Photographic Federation Inter club National Finals were delighted with the results for the club which came seventh overall in the competition.
Twenty three clubs from all over Ireland competed, with CIPC from Belfast taking the overall award.
They were fifth in the Mono category and sixth in the colour print section. The club members who had images on the panels were Viv Buckley, Janusz Treseki, Michal Poplawski, Paul Tips, Joy Buckley, Bill Power, Mark Steele and John Hooton.
There was also brilliant news recently for club members Viv Buckley, Teddy Sugrue and Bill Power, all of whom have been informed that their applications for AFIAP distinctions have been approved. AFIAP stands for ‘Artiste Fédération Internationale de l’Art’ and is the first in a series of international distinctions awarded by FIAP, the international photography body.
Club Chairman, Bill Power, has been elected to full membership of the Irish Photographic Federation Council. Until earlier this year he had been an ex-officio member because of being chairman of the Southern Association of Camera Clubs, a position from which he stepped down in January. His election at the IPF AGM on Sunday brings him to full membership of the Council for the next three years.
Last weekend, Bill was also brought on board as a judge on the IPF Distinctions Panel of assessors in Mullingar which included John Hooton.
