Valley Rovers opened the scoring in the fifth minute by Billy Crowley. The South East side added a second point in the ninth minute. Two minutes later Billy Crowley found the net for the winners.

The Innishannon side were now well on top and they had their second goal soon after when an Eoin O’Reilly free was badly handled by the Fermoy defence with Darragh Lordan on hand to finish to the net 2-2 to 0- 0.

Fermoy’s first score came in the 15th minute when Daniel O’Flynn, Gary O’Callaghan and Shane Aherne worked well for Ronan O’Hagan who pointed. Valley’s keeper David Lynch made a very good save from impressive Martin Brennan.

A period of sustained pressure saw Valley Rovers have four points on the trot by Jack Murphy and Darragh Lordan (3) 2-6 to 0-1 after 22 minutes. Cian O’Carroll was denied by David Lynch with another goal scoring chance.

Ronan O’Hagan pointed two Fermoy frees with Jack Lyons pointing for the winners who held a 2-7 to 0-3 interval lead.

Both sides had some wides on the resumption. Rovers used the short passing at speed to great effect. They had the fleet footed Eoin O’Reilly who caused many problems up front.

The winners third goal came in the 40th minute when John Kiely placed Dan O’Sullivan who netted. O’Reilly followed with a pointed free in the 45th minute 3-8 to 0-3.

Fermoy were wide from some close in frees. In the 51st minute Ronan O’Hagan pointed another free. The Avondhu side had a goal in the 56th minute when Cian O’Carroll put Ronan O’Hagan through 3-8 to 1-4.

O’Hagan who was Fermoy’s only scorer had his fourth pointed free with Jack Lyons and Jack Murphy making a good run placing Eoin O’Reilly for the winner’s fourth goal. The latter completed the scoring with a late pointed free.
