Lorcain injury will see him sidelined for a good spell
A SHOULDER injury sustained by Lorcain Mc Loughlin midway through the first half of Kanturk’s opening Cork Premier Intermediate hurling championship clash with Castlelyons over shadowed their defeat last weekend.
The injury puts Lorcain out of Cork senior hurlers Munster championship clash with Waterford - and for the foreseeable future.
Despite Lorcain’s departure, Kanturk lead 1-7 to 0-07 at the interval, a Liam O Keeffe goal proving decisive.
A Castlelyons goal before the 9th minute of the second half brought them back into contention and with both sides spurning point scoring chances over the next quarter it was a drawn match with five minutes left for play.
Castlelyons found their range in the closing minutes to book a fourth round place on a 1-13 to 1-16 score line.
Kanturk now face Bandon in round 2 over 13/14th June minus their Cork star.
Best wishes of all in Kanturk GAA goes to Lorcain Mc Loughlin for a speedy recovery and a return to action for club and county.
