SENIOR HURLING

Ballyhea 1-19 Blackrock 11pts: This game was played in Fermoy on Sunday last and Ballyhea went in as underdogs but they confounded their critics with a deserving win and now look forward to the fourth round with confidence. Pa O’Callaghan was the best player on view scoring points from all angles. Congratula­tions to Clem Smith Coach, Adrian Gilligan Trainer and Selectors Mike Morrissey and Henry Greensmith. Congratula­tions also to Newtownsha­ndrum who had a great win over reigning champions Sarsfields in what proved to be an epic encounter.

CAMOGIE

Congratula­tions to Rachel Harty who was on the Cork Intermedia­te team that defeated Tipperary on a scoreline of Cork 6-14 Tipperary 10 pts at Knocklong last weekend in the Munster Intermedia­te Championsh­ip final.

GAA CLUB MEMBERSHIP

Membership for Adults €30, Students and Senior Citizens €20, Family Membership (2 Adults and juveniles Under 18) €80. Membership fee can be handed to Helen O’Sullivan or any Committee Member.

45 DRIVE

The 45 Drive will continue at the Corbett Court every Wednesday night at 9.15pm so all welcome. when twenty pupils from the local National School received their first Holy Communion. The Celebrant was Rev. Fr. Jin Kennelly J.P.with some of the older pupils at the school providing some wonderful music and singing in the choir.

The pupils made a presentati­on to their teacher Mrs Fiona Murphy while the choir was conducted by fellow teachers Mrs Margaret Kiely and Mrs Marie Casey. This was a very special occasion and a beautiful ceremony. The weather played its part, all combining to make it a memorable occasion.

PARTY

The party in the Park for the Children on Sunday last attracted a huge attendance and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The play park itself was looking a picture as is a huge asset to families in Boherbue and surroundin­g areas. There were many novelty events, face paintings, disco, teas and coffee etc. all adding to the occasion. One of the main reasons behind the party was to showcase the amenity and it certainly did that. The Committee would like to thank all involved in the success and hope that families will use the park throughout the year.

Fr. Frank O’Neill pp presented Noreen with a Medal of Service from Pope Francis.Michael Dennehy made a presentati­on of a Waterford Vase, on behalf of the church committee and the people of Kilbrin, while Tom O’Riordan chairman of the Community Council also made a presentati­on on behalf the community.All three speakers along with Fr. Campbell cc paid glowing tributes to Noreen, and wished her well in her retirement.

We wish to thank everyone who baked all the beautiful cakes, appletarts,buns etc.,and anyone who helped in any way to make it a memorable night.On the same night a presentati­on was made to Jeanette Dennehy, by Esther Hayes on behalf of the community for forthy years as organist in the local church.

ALZHEIMERS TEA

A coffee/tea evening was held in the social club recently for the Alzheimers Associatio­n of Ireland. The organisers would like to thank everyone who helped to make it a great success a figure of €450 was realised, and has since been handed over to the Alzheimers associatio­n fund.

FOOTBALL

Kilbrin footballer­s were defeated by Lyre on Saturday evening last on a score line of 1-12 to 0-07. Kilbrin kept up the pace for the first twenty minutes and looked like they would be in the shakeup at the end but a more accurate Lyre side tagged on the scores with Kilbrin having no answer. They now await their faith in the back door.

Kilbrin Hurlers were taking on Banteer last night in the junior hurling league. No results at time of going to press.
