Time to get stuck in to Tidy Towns drive
THIS weekend kicks off the start of The Tidy Towns competition Newmarket Community Development would like to encourage everyone to play their part.
They want all individuals, families, publicans, businesses and all local organisations to take a look at your own areas and maybe just pick one thing that you could improve on, be it a bit of brushing, cleaning, a lick of paint or plant some colourful flowers to cheer the area up.
This is the time of year to show our community environment in its best light but no one person can do this on their own so NCD would love if everyone pulled together to make our town and community a clean, bright and beautiful place to live in and to visit.
Meanwhile, the Newmarket Community Development Mayoral campaign has got off to a great start.
The two candidates, Maura Sheahan and Daniel O’Doherty, are making themselves known in their own ways and it should make for a super interesting month or so.
It’s a case of experience verses youth but who will have the edge to come out on top?
All monies collected along the campaign trail will go towards the Christmas lights for 2015 as the lights we have are in need of repair and in lots of cases replacment.
Do please keep an eye out for our candidates as they are sure to be popping up at a place near you sometime soon and don’t forget to show your support by sponsoring a line or two.
At the end of the campaign you may just win one of the prizes: 1st prize €200, 2nd prize €100 and 3rd and 4th prize €50.
The campaign winner along with our prize winners will be announced on Sat 27th June (venue to be confirmed).
