LONG LOST FAMILY

If anyone can help John Coulter with any information on his quest to trace his family history please contact me. The following is what he knows so far -

I’m researching my family’s history and am looking for anyone that might know anything about my descendants; the Healy’s of Killavullen/Cloyne Parish. My great, great grandfather was a Cornelius Healy, a family coachman who married Ellen Ellard the daughter of the family he was working for.

The Ellards we don’t think lived in the parish, they could have come from Churchtown, they were known for breeding race horses and had strong links with Boston USA. Ellen was subsequently disowned by her father, who we think was called George. Cornelius and Ellen went on to have we think 4 children; Patrick (1863), Mary Ann (1865), Ellie (1871 my great grandmother) and the mysterious aunt Mags.

By 1892 Cornelius had passed away and Mary Ann and Ellie had left for London, England, we don’t know what happened to their mother Ellen. Patrick however seemed to stay in the Killavullen area, we think he married an Ellen Connell in 1883 and they went on to have a son John in 1886. Other names that pop up as witnesses/ sponsors are Elizabeth Healy (Cornelius’ sister/Mother?) Daniel Murphy, Mary Roche, Michael Burke or Bourke, and Michael and Hannah Neile.

Other than Mary Ann’s baptism at St Mary’s Buttevant, I’m not even sure which church these marriages and baptisms took place, although my great grandmother was a Catholic. If anyone can add anything to our family’s story it would be wonderful to hear from you. Regards–John Coulter

THURSDAY’S TIP

For a sparkling clean oven why not try this. Spray this solution over the racks and also inside the oven. Leave on for a few hours or overnight if possible. Wipe it out in the morning and you will see the results. It really cleans the racks and that baked on grease and food just flakes off.

One of the secrets is to leave the mixture on the surface for a while. It’s also to makes your shower shine! Into a spray bottle mix: 2 oz. Dishwashing liquid, 4 oz. Lemon Juice, 8 oz. White Vinegar and 10 oz. Water. Now make your house sparkle! *Please test it first before using on delicate surfaces. If your shower has a bad build-up of soap scum and crud it may take a time or two to get that shine.

Please, do your part and give a hand, especially in the mornings around 8:30 or 9.00a.m. It always seems to fall to the same few people. We would love to see your community spirit.
