The Corkman

The late Brian Heffernan

BRIAN HEFFERNAN R.I.P. Ballybane, Liscarroll, Mallow, 23/02/ 1975

– 23/04/2015 BRIAN HEFFERNAN passed away surrounded by his family at his home in Ballybane, Liscarroll on Thursday morning 23rd April, 2015.

Although Brian was 6th in line in the Heffernan Clan his brothers and sisters looked up to him more as a father figure. He was kind, caring and had a heart of gold. Brian was a family man who adored his wife Edel and his two daughters Caitlin and Lia.

He will be sadly missed by us all.

In his working life Brian spent at least 20 years in the construction business beginning as a pipe layer on the gas line in Cork. When work slowed down Brian worked closer to home, especially with his father, Jeremiah, looking after his cattle and needed no excuse to do so – this did not seem like work to Brian because he loved and enjoyed it.

Another forte of Brian’s was machinery and in recent years he loved using chainsaws. There was no tree big enough and no storm strong enough that would stop him working! He often said “I will be back in five minutes!” – but could be gone for two days!

Brian enjoyed sports with a particular passion for ladies football, as his two daughters play for St. Mary’s Liscarroll/ Dromina. He also loved following his two girls in the Duhallow Hunt and encouraging them all the way on their Connemara Ponies.

Brian reposed at his residence on Saturday, 25th April. Reception into St. John the Baptist Church, Kilbrin and his burial in Kilbrin Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Edel, daughters Caitlin and Lia, Father and Mother Jer and Eily, his brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces, all his in-laws and wide circle of friends – whom we would like to particularly thank as all made huge efforts to turn out for his funeral.

“Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can Steal!”
