WEST Muskerry A.C. had another fantastic day recently when they competed in the County Junior and Master Cross Country Championsh­ips and the Juvenile B County Championsh­ips in Conna, Co. Cork.

In the Boys U9 750m Killian O`Mahony had a fantastic race. He battled through the long grass and the race was lightening fast. He came storming home in 4th place and was well deserving of his 4th place medal. His teammates Sean Lucey and Eoin Hurley also ran superbly and all three boys were well deserving of the silver medals in the team competitio­n.

In the Girls U11 1000m Rachel Kelleher battled hard throughout the course and there were seven girls fighting for 6 medals coming in the home straight. Rachel clinched her teeth hard and was well deserving at the finish line of the 5th place medal.

Her team mates also battled hard and never gave up. In the team competitio­n the girls just lost out on the bronze medals and finished in 4th place. The team was Rachel Kelleher, Danielle O`Neill, Moira Leahy and Eimear O`Sullivan.

In the Girls U9 750m Niamh Underhill had a superb race. It was a very fast race and she kept up with the main group and finished in eighth position.

In the Boys U11 1,000m all four boys were running up an age and were just out of the medals. They were Jamie Hourihan, Michael Downey, Kevin Underhill and Eoin Moynihan.
