THE achievements of dozens of students completed night course at the Mallow College of Further Education have been recognised at an awards night held in the Hibernian Hotel.
Dozens of students were honoured for their commitment in returning to further education across a broad range of certified courses at the college covering topics including healthcare, IT, journalism, accounting and business administration.
Speaking on the night college principal Denis Healy spoke about the immense difference returning to education can make to people’s lives, urging the award recipients exploit the opportunities now open to them.
So don’t stop here, do not be afraid go another step further,” he said.
“The certificates you have earned will open up other avenues and possibilities. The sky really is the limit for you,” he added.
Mr Healy also paid tribute to the tutors, administrators and all those who work behind the scenes to make the adult education programme at the College such a success.
“Credit must also go to your families who have supported you along the way. However, tonight is really about you, the graduates. Never doubt that you are capable of going further and realising the opportunities that are now open to you,” he said.
The Mayor of County Cork, Cllr John Paul O’Shea also addressed the gathering which included family members, college staff and special guest Ellen Gunning of the Irish Academy of Public Relations.
“An academic qualification is hard earned at any time. Your achievements merit extra credit in that you took these courses at night,” he said
“Nothing can take these achievements from you and I am positive your will be rewarded tenfold for your efforts,” added Cllr O’Shea.
