IT was cup action in the Blackwater Valley Darts last Friday week as Kit Roche’s hosted Maureen’s in Buttevant.

Going into the game Maureens were 5-2 in the lead. First game had Ger McCarthy and Pat Leahy in a tussle at the oice with Leahy winning 3-1.

In the second singles Raymond Harrington had it all his own way against Eric Griffin and even though both players scored well the Buttevant player came out with a clear 3-0 victory.

Up next Anthony Linehan and Klaus Richter went into battle with Richter marking up a first win for the visitors in a 3-1 encounter.

Daniel Linehan had dart veteran Danny Butler to contend with in the fourth. This game was a tit for tat match with Linehan crossing the line with a 3-2 win.

In the last of the singles David McGrath and Peter O Donovan went into tungsten action. O’Donovan scored extremely well and won 3-0.

In the first of the doubles Paul Guinane and Glenn Curtin faced Griffin and Noel Dinan. The Mallow pair proved too good and took the match 3-1 which in ways was a double celebration for Eric after publicily announcing his engagement recently.

In the final game of the night Linehan and Harrington played Butler and Sean Dilworth with the Buttevant duo taking the honours 3-1.

The result on the night was 4-3 to Maureens giving an overall score of 9-5. Maureens progress on in the cup while Kits go into the plate competition.

Third game was Michael O’Rourke and Paul O Dea. O’Rourke was on fire in this dart encounter scoring well and taking out a finish of 92 and the game 3-0.

Darren Jones and Damien Carey were next in battle. Carey was fast in the starting doubles but was unable to keep the rhythm going and faltered with Jones taking him out 3-0.
