Postponed League Final rearranged for Sunday next in Muskerry

- Aubert Twomey

THE weather was the spoilsport in Muskerry last week when the division’s GAA board had to cancel one of the three outstanding finals that have yet to be decided. That game is re-fixed for Sunday next so Ballinora and Donoughmore will face each other in the Junior Football League Division (3) Final at the Dripsey GAA headquarters at 1.30pm. Both clubs will have their second choice adult football sides representing them and an entertaining hour’s play is likely, weather permitting.

The following two Sundays will hopefully see the remaining two finals being decided.

On Sunday, November 22 Beal Athan Ghaorthaidh and Eire Og will contest the Junior Football League Division (2) Final. Meanwhile, on Sunday, November 29th, Iveleary will be hoping to capture another hurling trophy when they face Eire Og in the Junior (B) Section (2) League Final.

As another season draws to a close in Muskerry we know that it will be the final period as board officers for some of the incumbents. They were all elected to their positions in 2010 so the five year rule means that their terms have reached a conclusion.

We will consequently have a changed team at the helm for 2016 and it will be interesting to see who will contest for the vacant positions.

Nominations have not been finalised at the time of writing but it is likely that some of the outgoing officers will seek new positions while others who have served Muskerry for a lengthy period will take a well-deserved rest. There will be more about

same next week.
