Fancy footwork for St Joseph’s
TWENTY-SIX local dancers will take part in a Strictly Come Dancing type fundraiser at the Charleville Park Hotel on Saturday, November 21.
The event is being organised by members of the committee of Charleville Golf Club in aid of St. Joseph’s Foundation Charleville and the main sponsor is local company, Student Programme Ireland, which is run by managing director Ms Bernie Carroll.
The award winning company, based in Charleville, was set up in 2009 by Ms Carroll to cater for the increased demand for international students to come to Ireland to improve their English language learning skills.
Charleville Golf Club and St. Joseph’s Foundation already have a long standing association through the latter using the club facilities for the golf practice in preparation for the golf skills discipline in the Special Olympics and other competitions held through the year.
Members of the golf club are also proactive in giving the Foundation’s young golfers tuition in the finer points of the game on a regular basis throughout the year, especially coming up to competition time.
The event would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of the 26 dancers who have volunteered to participate in the event and they were thanked for taking part in the dance –off.
The pairings are Eddie and Noreen O’Leary, Mary O’Donnell and Dave Stack, Helen Cronin and Maurice O’Riordan, Brenda Foley Hanotin and Bob Fenton, Stephanie Gleeson and Trevor O’Connor, Audrey O’Brien and Jamie O’Sullivan, Fiona Hayes and David Deady, Ann Gleeson and Tom Noonan, Brenda Bowles and Ken Wheeler, Evelyn O’Leary and Andrew Doyle, Máiread Flynn and Claude Keane, Angeline Hanley and Maurice Bridgeman, Yvonne McCarthy and Mary Ryan.
Severe government cutbacks have forced St. Joseph’ Foundation to rely heavily on fund-raising event such as this one to fund the many services they provide for children and adult disabled persons at their complex in Baker’s Road, Charleville and throughout their catchment area. These include early intervention, Padre Pio Day School, Holy Family School, sheltered occupation workshops, residential care for adults and children, home support for adults and children, elder acre, multi-disciplinary support and hydro-therapy.
Tickets for the above event are €20 and are available at Charleville Golf Club office, pro-shop and Nora May’s Bar & Bistro, The Forge Restaurant, Broad Street, Charleville, St. Joseph’s Foundation reception or from any member of the organising committee of Joy Binchy, Margaret Deady, Siobhan Bowles, Ann McEvoy, Catherine McCarthy or Margaret Cashman.
