Clondrohid Under 14 team played Kilmurry in the Eastern Region League Final in Rusheen on Saturday November 7This was a most exciting game with the lead changing on a constant basis.The score at half time was Kilmurry 2-5 Clondrohid 2-3.In a high scoring second half Clondrohid with a late scoring burst claimed victory on the final score.Clondrohid 6-7 Kilmurry 5-5.

A notable scoring feat was the four goals scored by Clondrohid captain Cathal Creedon. A sincere word of thanks to the coaches/ trainers/mentors /who took charge of this team, well done to you all. Thanks to all the parents who travelled to games and to all the loyal supporters who turned up on Saturday in Rusheen Well done to everyone involved, its wonderful to finish off the season with a trophy.

PRAYERS AT GRAVEYARD

Many people turned out last Sunday, despite the heavy rain for the annual November prayers. Thanks to Fr. Wickham and the choir for making this such a solemn occasion.

CHAMPION WEIGHTLIFT­ER

Laura O’Riordan has returned from Scilly where she performed like the true champion she is . She came first in her weight class and in the open category for 55.5kg class. She did 57.5kg bench and broke the squat world record at 112.5kg She also has the deadlift world record at 140kg she has the total world record for the world full powers. So she lifted 305kg @53.7kg bodyweight. What an achievemen­t. She would like to thank all those who helped her achieve this feat. Well done from all in Clondrohid.

FLORAL DEMONSTRAT­ION

A Gala charity Floral Demonstrat­ion entitled ‘Sleigh Bells Ring’ with Una Fleming AOIFA will take place on this Thursday night November 12 at 8pm at Coolcower House. Proceeds to Cope Foundation Macroom Branch and Cuan Mhuire Farnanes. All are welcome.

HALOWEEN CAPERS

Well done to Ash, Terri and family, who opened up their house through a haunted tunnel on Saturday night Oct 31 in Clondrohid. Great ideas, great effort, but not for the faint hearted!

The pub in Carriganim­a has reached its 15th birthday, and to celebrate they are changing tactics this year and bringing a magician answering to the name of Jer Kearney. It looks like he could have a few tricks and surprises up his sleeve. Its all happening on Saturday night Nov 21.

On the following Saturday night Nov 28 a young fellow from west Cork -Conor O’Mahony will entertain you playing many instrument­s. A note for the diary.

Laochra Óg Hurling Club A.G.M. took place in Clondrohid Community Hall on Friday 3rd November. Elected officers include :Chairperso­n Liam Slattery, Vice Chairperso­n Donal Casey, Secretary Marguerite Murphy, Assistant Secretary Suzanne O’Brien, Treasurer Eddie Walsh, Assistant Treasurer Joe O’Leary, P.R.O. Siobhan O’Shea, Assistant P.R.O. Ian Keoghan.

Macroom Enterprise weekend took place at the Leisure Complex Macroom. Tyrone manager Mickey Harte met with members of Laochra Óg at the Laochra Óg stand. An inspiratio­nal man who gave a great address to the large attendance. Well done to all involved.

MARQUEE SUCCESS

Coachford Players ‘Drama at the Marquee’ has been hailed as a huge success. The three one act plays were performed to appreciati­ve audiences on each of the three nights in the fully lit and heated venue.

Chairman of the group, Willie Barrett said ‘we are thrilled with the way the plays were received and the support of so many people for this new venture for us. Full credit must go to the actors ans the directors for putting on three very entertaini­ng plays in the Coachford Marquee Theatre.’

The Coachford group’s next production is John B Keane’s ‘Many Young Men of Twenty’ which they will start rehearsing for in early January and they plan to perform this wonderful tale of emigration and loss at Easter.

CHRISTMAS MARKET

The first of the real Christmas Markets takes place on Friday November 20th in the Riverside Hotel Macroom from 6pm. This wonderful Christmas market will see local craft people take the stalls and sell their stock that is not available on the high street shops and some novel ideas for original Christmas presents. A great night of shopping and socialisin­g for all in a lovely Christmas setting.... cakes, Christmas puddings, gourmet coffee, jewellery, beauty products...and lots more. Don’t Miss it.

SOCCER FIXTURES

Coachford Under 15s travel to Cobh on Saturday to take on Springfiel­d at 10.30am. The under 17s entertain Richmond on Sunday at 2m at the Glebe in the league. The Premier team play the second round of the AOH cup and Castlack will provide the opposition. The game kicks off at 2pm on Sunday in Castlack.

COUNTY TITLES

Two county titles were captured last week by teams based in Coachford. Pride of place has to go to the Coachford College Junior Camogie team who captured the title for the first time in the history of the school by defeating Bandon in the final. The Aghabullog­ue Under 16 hurlers completed a clean sweep of hurling titles defeating Ballygibli­n in the county league final.
