Savour a ‘Selfie’ with Pat Shortt at the INEC

- BILL BROWNE

THE irrepressible Pat Shortt will bring his hilarious one-man show ‘Selfie’ to the stage of the INEC in Killarney on Friday, November 20..

In the anarchic show Shortt invites the audience to join his alter-ego, the singing undertaker Mossey Burke, and a host of other new characters as he recounts his favourite funeral.

The funeral was nearly the death of him and changed Mossey’s life forever.

Shortt’s unique, comedic but somewhat universal look at everyday Irish life, has cemented his place in the public hearts. Along with that his work on stage and screen over the last decade have proved him to be an enduring, versatile and award winning talent.

His most recent theatre role of Johnny pateen mike in the West End production of ‘ The Cripple of Inishmaan’ alongside Daniel Radcliffe, was a renowned success that subsequently transferred to Broadway in New York.

Pat’s new show is an entertaining throwback similar to that to the days of D’Unbelievables when he an Jon Kenny wrote themselves into Irish comedy folklore.

In a typically quirky and humorous way Shortt brings people on a colourful journey through the eyes of Mossey Burke highlighting the all-too-often chaotic Irish wedding, a scenario that most people can easily relate to.

Through laughs and punchlines and hilarious one-liners Pat performs a myriad of truly Irish comedic scenarios that no matter what part of the country you are from will be all too familiar.

Tickets for the show, priced at €28, are available from the venue on 064 667 1555 or at www.inec.ie.
