A LOTTA LOTTO LUCK IN BALLY DESMOND

- John TARRANT

SUBSCRIBERS to the Ballydesmond GAA club lotto have cracked the code in terms of winning the jackpot.

Indeed, punters are supporting the popular lotto in their droves after figuring out the numbers towards striking it rich. After an 18 months lapse without a jackpot win, the Ballydesmond jackpot has found four outright winners in just seven weeks.

The sequence of wins surfaced with, first, €19,400 shared by Donal Óg O’Leary from Kiskeam and Anthony Lehane of Ballydesmond.

Just five weeks on, another jackpot winner saw Julia Murphy from Kiskeam win a €4,600 windfall. And for good measure, Ballydesmond’s Danny O’Connor is the latest recipient to strike it rich after coming up trumps to collect €2,400.

Club chairman Andy Moynihan applauded the subscribers to the lotto over the years and congratulated the winners. “It’s hard to believe this has all happened over recent weeks. Good luck to all subscribers, the lotto has generated great interest and excitement,” he said.

The club chairman spoke of the club’s facilities and the benefits of the club lotto with its state of the art pitch, gym and floodlighting boosted by the support of the local community.

“Our work will not stop and the club has ambitious plans to develop the training ground, second pitch and gymnasium. All of these facilities are to ensure that the coming generation will have everything in place to secure future glories for the club,” he said.

Ballydesmond club was founded in 1964 and has enjoyed significant success over the subsequent five decades, with players that are drawn from both sides of the county bounds. “That element of Cork and Kerry identity has always been a source of pride in the club as county rivalries are forgotten when Ballydesmond teams take to the field.

With Christmas fast approaching, supporting the Ballydesmond GAA club lotto may well generate additional funding to celebrate the festive season. “Tickets cost €2 each or three for a fiver, if you’re not in, you can’t win”, said Chairman Andy.
