EXAM TIME ARRIVES IN A BLAZE OF SUNSHINE
Cora Wrench, Katie Stack, and Edel Harty at Boherbue Comprehensive School were all “very happy” with the contents of English Paper 1 on Wednesday
GLORIOUS sunshine was part and parcel of the first day of the Leaving and Junior Cert exams on Wednesday.
Students at both St. Mary’s and at the Patrician Academy in Mallow said the intense heat did not hinder their concentration tackling the English paper as it did in other years.
Seventy seven Junior Cert students sat the exam at St. Mary’s while more than 90 Leaving Cert students took their exam.
All students spoken to at both schools were quite happy with the opening exam . Aoife Fitzgerald said it was ‘so nice’ while Laura O’Shea admitted she was very happy.
The Junior Certs at St. Mary’s sat their exam on the ground floor while the Leaving Cert students were on the first floor.
Around 60 boys did the Junior Cert in the Academy while the same figure did their Leaving Cert.
Almost 200 junior and leaving cert pupils sat their English (Paper 1) exam on Monday morning at Coláiste an Chraoibhín in Fermoy.
School principal Christy Healy said it was always a relief for students to get the first exam done and dusted.
“There is always a bit or nervous tension in the air on the first morning until the students realise they are just like any other exam,” said Mr Healy.
“The general reaction to the papers was positive all around,” he added.
