KBC extend deadline to apply for share of €100,000 ‘Bright Eyes’ funding pot

- AMY REIDY

THE KBC Bank has announced that it has extended the deadline for community groups across Cork to apply for funding under its ‘Bright Eyes’ initiative.

The deadline for the project, which will see a cool €100,000 divided up between successful applicants, has been pushed back to Friday, June 24.

Over the past two years more than 70 diverse, creative and innovative community projects have received funding under the scheme, breathing new life into a broad range of deserving locally focussed initiatives.

These have included the establishment of community based amenities for the elderly and people with special needs, sporting and educational activities for young people, community well-being resources, arts and culture initiatives, as well as urban renewal projects.

Once again KBC is encouraging community leaders from across Cork County who may have an innovative idea or progressive project that could benefit from a cash injection under the scheme to get in contact with them to be in with a chance of securing funding. In addition, the 10 winners will be selected by KBC’s specially selected judging panel to enter a public vote for the prestigious title of ‘Ireland’s Brightest Idea’.

An additional €5,000 in funding has been set aside for the overall winning project. Applications to KBC’s ‘Bright Ideas’ 2016 initiative can be submitted through the bank’s online portal at www.kbcbrightideas.com. Applications will be accepted up until the newly designated deadline of Friday, June 24 from innovative community projects based anywhere across the county.
