Macroom Juveniles GAA

-

THE juvenile committee would like to congratulate Macroom U-18 and Macroom U-14 soccer teams (both boys) and the Macroom U-14 Girls’ football team on their great successes this year. Credit is due to all involved. The girls’ win was historic as it was the first time a Macroom female football team won a trophy.

U-6/U-8: Continue to train diligently. The U-8s have a blitz next Sat. in Coachford.

U-10/U-9: On Thursday, June 2, Macroom U-9s & U-10s travelled to Kilmurry to play 2 games. On a very warm evening, Macroom had 31 kids who lined out and two matches were played simultaneously. Both Macroom teams were slow to start but improved as the evening progressed, and, by the end of play, were demonstrating good skills. A special merited is due to the younger members of the group because they really came to the fore. The Padraigh Dervan Cup competition will be organised in Sept.

U-12: They continue to train and have drawn one of three games. Stephen Moore will be getting more involved.

U-14/U-13: The U-13s played Aghabullogue, away, on June 6. They led 2-3 to 1-5 at halftime but some scores early in the second put Aghabullogue well ahead. Macroom tried to the end and the final score was Macroom 3-6 to 7-9 for Aghabullogue. The Mary Casey Cup competition is to take place in September. The U-14s visit Bantry on June 10, for a practice match. They then have a league game on June 17 against Clondrohid, and on June 24 have another league encounter, with Ballinhassig providing the opposition.

U-16s: No matches until the state exams are completed and they continue to train.

Other items: Cúl Camp takes place from 18-22 of July in Castle Grounds; see website for more details.

A committee meeting took place on 1/6/2016: many items discussed and decided.

Possibly an outing to Munster Football Final in Killarney, provided Cork overcome Tipperary, may be arranged. Priority will be given to those who attend training and matches.
