GAA Under 14 All Ireland football competition
AT the end of 2015 the Kanturk based Juvenile clubs, playing as Wolfe Tones Boys team & Kanturk Ladies Football team amongst other Cork & Limerick clubs were approached on whether they would like to participate in this years Feile 2016 Finals and the offer was accepted.
The teams get to play high class opposition , in that they are competing against individual County Representatives and we also get more games which is fundamental to what players like and enjoy most , playing matches.
The local Boys team are hosting Coralstown & Kinnegad from Westmeath and the Girls Team are hosting Tourlestrane from Sligo in their own homes whiled the Feile is on.
The Feile Week End will kick off with the arrival on the Fri. evening of our visiting teams with a Meet & Greet. Then the games begin.
The Girls Team are playing at home in our Main GAA pitch in Kilroe in a group of 4 with our visiting host team as well as from teams nearby Kilshannig plus the team they are hosting Clonguish from Longford.
The Wolfe Tones Boys Team are playing in Kilshannig with our visiting host team against Kilshannig and their visitors Boyle from Roscommon.
On the Sat. morning both Kanturk based teams will play our visitors in our Home pitch before moving on to the quarter finals in either the plate or shield qualifiers depending on earlier results. These quarter final matches will be held in pitches somewhere along the County Bounds, and if all goes well further games with the semi finals & final on Sun. in Tralee in Kerry.
A hectic week end is expected for all those taking part and not to forget the Feile Parade is on in Kanturk and for many players this is another big highlight where 30 Clubs from all over Ireland and maybe even further will be involved with 1000 players taking part.
The Feile experience , from stories from Feiles past is that you also make some great lifelong friends that and this is very prevalent in that the Theme of this years Feile is Friendship & Respect.
