THE SPIRIT OF THE GREAT GB SHAW REKINDLED IN KILWORTH TONIGHT

THE Village Arts Centre in Kilworth will tonight (Thursday, June 9) host the Irish Theatre Company’s production of Paddy O’Keeffe’s ‘Bernard Shaw invites you’ of one-night only.

Written by and starring O’Keeffe, this intriguing one-man show sees Shaw inviting the audience to celebrate with him on the occasion of his 90th birthday in July 1946.

However, his celebratio­ns are rudely interrupte­d by Paddy O’Keeffe, an obsessive Shavian who - in 2015 is determined to discover the real George Bernard Shaw.

The 90-minute show will be followed by a Q&A session with O’Keeffe.

HAM SANDWICH ON THE MENU AT THE TRISKEL ART S CENTRE

THIS Saturday, June 11, will see one of the most enthrallin­g live acts dominate the stage in Cork as Ham Sandwich host an exciting acoustic show in the Triskel Christchur­ch Arts Centre.

With the combinatio­n of Niamh Farrell’s powerful yet sweet vocal and Podge McNamee’s juxtaposin­g baritone the band are given its signature calling card.

LISA HANNIGAN TO SHOWCASE NEW MUSIC AT THE WHITE HORSE

NATIONAL treasure Lisa Hannigan will star in The White Horse this Saturday night with special guests Ye Vegabonds.

The show is part of Hannigan’s highly anticipate­d Irish tour, which will preview songs from her forthcomin­g third studio album.

Lisa has since been stretching her musical expertise in many directions including lending her voice to two of Stephen Price soundtrack­s- Fury and the Oscar winning score for Gravity.

Lisa also performed on the Oscar Nominated animation, Song of the Sea, this time not only singing but also making her acting debut alongside Brendan Gleeson.

GAMERS SET FOR WEEKEND OF FUN AT THE INEC IN KILLARNEY

COMPUTER gamers from across the country will flock to the INEC complex in Killarney this weekend for the first ever Insomnia Gaming Ireland festival.

The venue will be transforme­d in to a gamers paradise featuring console and PC tournament­s, appearance­s by YouTube stars, interactiv­e stage shows, demos of the latest products and retail zones.

Top attraction­s will include the Minecraft Zone, which will be a huge draw for younger people, while their parents can take a trip down 8bit memory lane in the Retro Zone which will feature a variety of old school games on classic consoles.

DIZZY BIRDS TO GET CROWD REELING AT THE CRANE LANE

CELEBRATIN­G THE WOMEN OF IRELAND IN MITCHELSTO­WN

CLLR June Murphy and Cobh Animation Team will host a free Mná na hÉireann Afternoon Tea in Mitchelsto­wn Town Hall on Saturday, at 3pm. The Cobh team have travelled all over Ireland, UK and Belgium to highlight the women of history with stories of 1916 social history.

The event will celebrate the women of 1916 with a presentati­on of cakes and goodies to give an idea of the taste of the era.

GLEN THEATRE GROUP BRING THEIR SLICE OF PARADISE TO THE CITY

THE Glen Theatre Group will bring their production of Sam Cree’s hilarious farce ‘Widow’s Paradise’ to the stage of the Everyman Palace Theatre for one night only tonight (Thursday, June 9).

Set in the 1970’s the action takes place in a ‘ luxury’ seaside caravan in Co Mayo and features five ladies on a strictly ‘women only’ holiday.

While the holiday starts as expected, a case of ‘mistaken caravan identity’ sends this Widow’s Paradise into disarray following the arrival of no-nonsense Alpha Male Harry, his dim-witted sidekick Ernie and Harry’s handsome and dashing young son Alan.

Tickets for the play at the Everyman Palace are available from the venue on 021 450 1673 priced at €15. Pre-booking is advisable as it is anticipate­d the performanc­e will be a sell-out.

LISMORE CHOIR TO HOLD THEIR SUMMER CONCERT ON SATURDAY

The Lismore Choir will present their 2016 summer concert in St Carthage’s Cathedral on Saturday, June 11.

The popular choir have been performing for over 30 years and have featured on the Late Late Show, Áras an Uachtaráin and The Miriam O Callaghan Show.

This year’s showcase will feature special guests, the High Hopes Choir.

Admission for this annual event is priced at €10 with doors opening at 7.30pm.
