New community health worker Martina set to get Mallow on the move

-

A COMMUNITY health worker for the Mallow area, Martina Daly, has been appointed.

This is a partnership between the HSE and the local community, facilitated by Le Cheile Family Resource Centre, where Martina will be based, 20 hours a week.

The role of the community health worker will be to improve community health and well-being of groups in the Mallow area. The health worker will work with a local advisory group to help identify local health themes in the Mallow area to work on for the coming year.

Current priorities for the upcoming year include setting up a walking group within the community, which will take the form of a strollers group that will enable people of all levels of fitness to take part in a healthy activity while also being social.

The health worker is organizing a four week taster walking group which will start on Thursday, July 7 at 7pm with the assembly point being the Le Cheile Family Resource Centre, Mallow Community Campus.

Another focus for Martina is Mallow Health Week which will commence on September 26. The aim of this health week will be to bring together local organizations and encourage them to focus on a healthy theme. It is also an opportunity for local groups to promote the great things they are already doing in relation to health. We wish Martina much success in her endeavours.
