Duhallow Vintage Club wishes Gerry a very happy birthday

-

THE members of Freemount based Duhallow Vintage Club, who were part of the huge vintage section of Charleville Agricultural Show on last Sunday, took the opportunity of honouring long standing members Jerry and Eileen O’Sullivan from The Lough in Cork City.

Jerry was celebrating his 80th birthday and was the recipient of a presentation from his fellow members to mark the occasion.

Several speakers praised the couple’s involvement in their club for many years, including chairman of the club Cormac Daly, who said the couple, who are held in high regard by the members, were great supporters of the club.

The former CIE transport official and his wife, Eileen, are out most Sundays with the club on their vintage car runs and distance is no object in his Ford Cortina, which he has been driving for the past ten years.

Jerry was a member of CIE staff in the transport section at Cork for 32 years until his retirement some 15 years ago. Members of his family were present to see Jerry and Eileen receive their presentation from their colleagues in the vintage club.

The vintage and classic cars belonging to the club members were among the huge display of vintage vehicles that also included army and commercial trucks, static engines, tractors, motorcycles and trade stands, which is always a very popular section of the Show.
