Murphy’s rises to another baking award
MURPHY’S Gala in Kanturk was recently named as a runner-up in the Best Bakery category at the Checkout Ireland Best in Fresh Awards 2016.
The Checkout Best in Fresh Awards, now in their tenth year, reward and promote excellence in fresh food retailing in Ireland, with retailers of all sizes and formats honoured. For Murphy’s, this is, once again, a huge recognition for the Gala store on a national level!
Irene and Jeremy Murphy attended the event, and collected the runner-up award for Best Bakery in The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.
Speaking about the store being named as having one of the best bakeries in Ireland, chief executive of Gala Retail, Gary Desmond said:
“We have a strong network of Gala retailers throughout the country that are delivering excellence in fresh food retailing day in, day out. It’s not surprising that Murphy’s Gala was named as finalist at the Best in Fresh awards as their bakery offering in-store is second to none.
“To be acknowledged for retail excellence once again is a tremendous credit to the store and to the Gala Group. We wish Murphy’s Gala continued success, and are proud to have Murphy’s Gala as one of the flagship retailers in the Gala Group.”
The Murphy’s Gala in-store Bakery offering has previously received a ‘Best in Bakery’ award from Gala Retail at the Gala B.E.S.T Awards in late 2015. Murphy’s Gala is situated on the main Mallow to Killarney Road just before Banteer and the store employs a total of 11 staff.
Gala was established in 1998 and is a wholly Irishowned convenience Group. There are almost 200 stores in the group, which are locally-owned and are renowned for their commitment to the local communities in which they operate.
