Weekend of highs and lows for Kanturk GAA

-

KANTURK GAA experienced a weekend of highs and lows with exit from the county premier Intermediate championship along with a fabulous weekend of Feile Peil action.

ON Friday last, 24th June, Kanturk travelled to Ballyhea to face Kilworth in the Cork Premier Intermediate Hurling Champaionship round 2B with high hopes of atoning for their first round defeat to Cloyne.

After the opening half, played against the wind, the sides went in level at the break on 10 points each and Kanturk looked well placed to take the victory required to maintain their interest in championship 2016.

However, the missed scoring opportunities which cost them v Cloyne returned to haunt Kanturk in the second half and ten wides during the period, coupled with a vital Kilworth goal with ten minutes remaining saw Kanturk fall short and exit championship 2016 on a 0-16 to 1-16 score line. FIXTURES: On the games front, Kanturk U21 hurlers enter the Duhallow U21HC first round on Tuesday, July 5 with a home tie against holders Robert Emmets at 8pm.

On Saturday 2nd July, Cuculliains (Kanturk) entertain Banteer in the North Region MHL at 3pm followed by an away tie against Ballygiblin on Monday 4th July 7.45pm. CORK TEAMS: This week sees Cork teams in action on three fronts with Darren Brown involved with Cork U21 hurlers, v Limerick at Pairc Ui Rinn on this past Tuesday 28th June.

On Thursday 30th June the same Cork venue host Cork V Tipperary in the Munster Minor Hurling semi final at 7.30pm with Ryan Walsh and Barry Kenneally involved and on Saturday 2nd July Dublin visit Leeside to face Cork senior hurlers in round 1 of the All Ireland Senior hurling qualifiers at 7pm, with Anthony Nash, Lorcain Mc Loughlin and Aidan Walsh and the Cork team hoping to get Cork’s season up and running after exiting to Tipperary in May.

Best wishes to all the lads.
