Captain Damien Murphy’s prize was played for last Saturday week at Kinsale Golf Club. Congratula­tions to Terry Keriefick the overall winner and he also received the Mary O’Connell Memorial Trophy.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy is extended to musician, Paddy O’Donovan, Coachford and to his brother Dave and Catherine, formerly of Cnoc Rua, following the death of Bridie O’Donovan, Haremount, Kilmichael.

A mother of sixteen, the late Bridie was laid to rest in Terelton Cemetery following Requiem Mass in St Enda’s Church, Johnstown. Codladh sámh i nGrásta Dé.

This week’s Save the Date is the Summer Music Sessions in the Castle Hotel, Macroom, starting on Tuesday, July 12. The entertainm­ent will be provided jointly by members of Craobh Lachtaín Naofa of Comhaltas and neighbours Acadh Aidhneach. These sessions were most popular in former years, so check them out.

DRINK TEA FOR MND

Almost €1,800 was raised at the Drink Tea for MND here in Cill na Martra and it was hugely appreciate­d by the Irish Motor Neuron Disease Associatio­n. Grateful thanks to all supporters.

LIZ LUCEY RUN

The annual Liz Lucey Memorial Fundraiser Run in aid of Marymount Hospice takes place on Sunday, July 10. All tractors, vintage cars, motorcycle­s and cyclists are invited to register at 11.30 a.m. in Halla Inse Gheimhleac­h. Registrati­on for walkers is at the GAA Pitch at 1 p.m. and all are invited back to the Hall for refreshmen­ts from 4 p.m. A mighty Session in the Briar Rose Bar from 6 p.m. will bring a great day to a close. All support most welcome.

KILBRIN GOLF SOCIETY

The Kilbrin golf society held their second outing of the year to Newcastle West on Saturday, June 18.

The playing conditions were excellent with 16 people played in a three ball better ball competitio­n. Results were as follows: 1. P. Duane, M. Dennehy, P. O’Callaghan, I. O’Sullivan. 2. D. Next outing of the society will be on July 30 in Kanturk, playing for the Captain’s (M. O’Riordan) prize.

GAA CLUB NEWS

Our junior footballer­s take on Knocknagre­e in the JFC qualifiers on this Sunday in Cullen at 3 p.m. We wish them the best of luck.

This game is curtain raiser to the Ducon Cup league final.

Lotto: The club lottery took place this weekend for a jackpot of €10,900. Numbers drawn were 11, 20, 27 and 33.
