Condon scores 3-17 for St Dominic’s and still ends up losing to Ballycosgr­y Rovers

six minutes. Stephen Condon struck a purple patch with five points and a goal that had the Glanworth-Shanballym­ore side 2-7 to 1- 2 clear after 17 minutes. Good play for Rovers by Aaron Curtin led to a well taken point by Colin O’Brien. In the 19th minute Jack Barrett goaled and they added points by Oisin Foley, Colin O’Brien (3) that had the lead down to two points 2-9 to 2-7. In the closing moments Niall Crowley struck a great point that left just a single point between the sides at the break 2-9 to 2-8.

Early on the resumption Jack Barrett levelled with a point. St Dominic’s again hit the front with two pointed frees by Stephen Condon. Oisin Foley pointed a long range free for Rovers. The Glanworth-’Shanbally’ side again did well. Stephen Condon had a goal and two points that helped them lead 3- 13 to 2- 10. Niall Crowley and Jack Barrett replied with a point each.

The Ballyhea-Liscarroll side seemed in big trouble when Colin O’Brien was dismissed with a red card. Down four points they came back very well. Stephen Condon stretched St Dominic’s lead with a free.

The Rovers gained supremacy in the half backline and midfield areas. They thundered into the game and Thomas Foley had two points. Jack Barrett had a goal after Sean Leonard had saved well from Niall Crowley that had the sides tied for the 5th time at 3-14 each. Ballycosgr­y regrouped well again. Jamie Copps goaled from a penalty and followed with two pointed frees. Stephen Condon pointed a free and the same player goaled from a free after a foul on Jack Coughlan. St Dominic’s forced level in the dying moments when Eric O’Donoghue worked well out of defence placing Conor Dennehy for the equalising score that had them level at full time 4-16 each.

For extra time Ballycosgr­y were entitled to start with 15, Tadhg Jones being introduced. St Dominic’s moved Jack Fogarty to full forward.

Good play by Sean Kelly led to a Thomas Foley goal. Sean Leonard saved well from Oisin Foley as the Rovers piled on the pressure. Stephen Condon had a free well saved by Gearoid O’Shea, before the same player pointed a free. Luke Crowley with a very good point restored the gal lead 5-17 to 4-17. A St Dominic’s attack David Blackburne, Aidan Walsh and Jack Coughlan was intercepte­d by Niall Crowley who placed Luke Crowley for a point. Jamie Copps pointed giving the winners a half time lead 5-19 to 4-17.

On the resumption Ethan Collins placed Jack Barrett for a point. Barrett had a goal soon after and they were 9 points clear 6-20 to 4-17.

Thomas Foley and Luke Crowley added points. St Dominic’s forced two frees and two ‘65s. Stephen Condon’s efforts were saved by a very solid Rovers defence. In injury-time Stephen Condon completed the scoring with another long range pointed free.
