early impression.

In the ninth minute they struck for the games opening goal when a delivery by Eoin McGrath was gathered by Jamie Sheehan who in turn released Brian Sheehan for a well taken goal. In the 20th minute Cormac Donnellan with their second goal made it 2-4 to 0-4. In the run up to the break Ballyhea improved greatly. Pa O’Callaghan was heavily involved in most of his sides movements and he along with Tom Hanley added five points between them that narrowed the deficit at the shortwhistle to 2-7 to 0-9.

On the changeover Ballyhea continued to do well with Jonathan McCarthy, Luke Hanley, Daniel Relihan, Tom Hanley, Pa O’Callaghan and Shaun Murphy making their presence felt. A period of strong pressure saw them get back on parity by the 40th minute at 2-9 to 1-12 their goal coming when a delivery by Luke Crowley was finished to the net by Michael Mortell. In an entertaining contest Kilworth hit the front again with David Twomey, Jeremy Saich, Eoin McGrath and Jason McCarthy playing leading roles around the middle of the field. Up front points by Brian Sheehan (2) Jamie Kenneally and Jeremy Saich moved them four clear entering the last quarter. Ballyhea tried hard to get back into the contest but in truth they depended too much on their main marksman Pa O’Callaghan for scores. As the final whistle approached the winners moved into a 2-18 to 1-15 lead. Nevertheless they were forced to withstand a tense finish with Ballyhea having two goal scoring chances cleared off the Kilworth goal line before the final whistle. Kilworth held out for a deserved win
