Ballygibli­n impress to see off resolute Ballyhea side

very much point for point for the rest of the half with Ballygibli­n ahead by 1-5 to 0-5 by the 25th minute. At the break they held a 1-6 to 0-6 lead the points by Pa O’Callaghan (6) Cathal O’Mahony, George Pendle, James Mullins, Joseph O’Sullivan, Sean O’Sullivan and Dean Barry.

On the changeover Ballygibli­n aided by the breeze were expected to push on but it was Ballyhea that continued to battle away with Luke Hanley, Sean O’Kelly, Jonathan McCarthy, Shaun Murphy, Daniel Relihan and Pa O’Callaghan very prominent.

O’Callaghan continued to be very accurate from frees and his two points along with their only point from play by Daniel Relihan had them back on level terms at 1-7 to 0-10 by the 38th minute.

However as the half went on the Ballygibli­n’s challenge ignited with Lorcan Finn, Michael Lewis and Shane Doyle featuring strongly in the half backline. In attack Sean O’Sullivan, George Pendle, James Mullins, Joseph O’Sullivan and Dylan Reidy-Price were very effective.

Some well taken points by Joseph O’Sullivan (2) James Mullins and George Pendle moved them into a 1-11 to 0-11 lead by the 51st minute. Pa O’Callaghan with a pointed ‘65 for Ballyhea closed the deficit to two but try as they might they were unable to get any closer.

Instead it was Ballygibli­n that struck a purple patch in the last seven minutes scoring seven points on the trot that advance to the semi finals.
