Kanturk GAA fans really ll did go to the dogs ... and the donkeys
SUPPORT for Kanturk GAA was very much in evidence at Curraheen Park last weekend when a large attendance convened for their ‘Night at the Dogs’.
With attractive prize money on offer, a top class programme with thrilling contests and close finishes added to the enjoyment.
Club chairman Tom Nash applauded all associated with the staging.
“Thanks go to the supporters of Kanturk GAA and friends from the greater Duhallow area who bought the tickets for the event,” said Tom.
“The organising committee must be applauded, again the response was incredible from the public and, of course, the business outlets who sponsored the various stakes or race programme, which ensured the success of the event. The financial assistance is warmly appreciated”, he said.
“Kanturk GAA Club is proud of its place in the sporting and social life of Kanturk, funding is so important towards supporting our adult and juvenile teams. Ongoing development has seen pitch upgrading, new seating installed for spectators and planned lighting at our ground on Freemount Road,” Tom added.
Not for the first time, the ‘Munster Donkey Derby’ added another dimension to a fun and social night out for patrons. Here, Liscarroll’s Amanda McCarthy aboard Miss United delighted supporters with a sizeable number of backers collecting winnings from baffled bookmakers.
