- BILL BROWNE

AS Ireland’s second city, Cork has always prided itself on being every bit as attractive to visitors as the capital with hidden and not so hidden gems dominating the skyline and around almost every street corner.

For Culture Night 2016 Cork City Council is orchestrating more than 200 events at over 100 venues across the city and has invited people to celebrate the city’s colourful culture by bike, bus or on foot.

While the full list of events is far too exhaustive to include in a single article, below is just a favour of some of the highlights across a range of categories.

The sound of beautiful music will be seeping out from the walls of venues across the city, with the City Hall playing host to a day long programme of free events. Music Generation Cork City (MGCC) will host music workshops for all ages and abilities throughout the day, with the award-winning Vanbrugh Quartet playing a concert in the venue at 9pm.
