Plan ahead to catch the best of the night across North Cork

AS with previous years there will be plenty going on across the county, with the north and mid- Cork regions leading the way when it comes to the scope of events planned for Culture Night 2016.

In fact a carefully planned schedule on the night could see people taking in different events at various locations, expanding their appreciati­on of the region and its unique cultural identity.

From visual art to music, theatre and dance to Literature to talks and tours the programme of events for the night is as broad as it is interestin­g – so there is no excuse for people not to get on the juvenile section from 8.15pm road and savour as much as – 10pm. they can of what is one offer. The library in Blarney will on throughout the town of open up its archives for a genealogy Mallow with the local library evening from 5.30pm hosting a daytime exhibition – 7.30pm, with the Schoolyard of photograph­s taken over Theatre and Arts Centre in the course of the recent Living Charlevill­e hosting an evening Space Project and the Lightbulb of traditiona­l music in the company Theatreof the local hosting Comhaltasa drama workshop in the Mercy Centre from 7pm-8pm.

The newly formed Mallow Arts Collective will also present a number of events during the day including poetry readings in the library from 3pm-5pm, a Culture Night concert at St James’ Church followed by ‘ Take the Floor’ at O’Keeffe’s pub with people invited to sing, dance and spin a few yarns.

The County Hall on the Carrigroha­ne Rd will be a hive of activity throughout with highlights including an exhibition of work by comic book artists Stephen Mooney and Nick Roche and a Q&A session with Will Sliney, illustrato­r for Marvel’s Spiderman.
