STARS HELP TRAIN YOUNG STARS AT LAOCHRA ÓG’S CAMP 4 CHAMPS

-

DAY one of Camp 4 Champs for Laochra Óg took place on Tuesday, August 16 with 105 Boys and Girls taking part in the pitch in Teerbeg. The weather was good and lots of skills practiced. Celebrities on the day included Luke O’Farrell, William Leahy, Seán Powter, Seán Wilson and Caroline Sugrue.

And not forgetting Carthrach Keane, the camp organiser who also organised some new goalposts for the U10’s players.

Camp 4 Champs day two started off with a drop of rain but it didn’t stop the boys and girls from having a great time. Stars included Eoin Cadogan, Brid Stack, Caroline Sugrue, Gerard Dinan, Martin Barry and Kevin Crowley who were teaching some new skills and brushing up on some old ones.

On the last day of camp the weather was dry and mild, sun shining, sliotars scattered, smiles all around.

The special visitors on the day included Kevin Crowley, Seán Powter, Niamh O’Keeffe, Seán Wilson, Caroline Sugrue and Ríona Buckley. The assistant coaches for the week were Mary Kelleher, Josie O’Callaghan, Daniel McSweeney, Daniel Murphy, Brian Lynch, Emily Murphy, Maeve Murphy, Lauren Healy, Suzann O’Brien, Lorraine Nash, John Nash, Ian Keoghan, Derry Murphy and Liam Slattery.

Thanks to Bríd Stack for bringing along the All-Ireland and Munster trophies and to the Murphy Family for bringing the Shane Murphy Memorial Cup, kindly sponsored by Macroom Credit Union. Thanks also to Clondrohid Tavern and Astra Systems for providing some equipment for the camp.

A big thank you to parents and guardians for sending their kids along and supporting the camp and Laochra Óg. Finally, thanks to all the catering staff and volunteers who gave up their own time for the good of others.

Laochra Óg like so many other clubs and organisations in the local communities is a voluntary club from top to bottom. The club invests everything back into the up-keep of the club and depend heavily on the good will of the people and businesses nearby.
