-

ANOTHER weekend of exciting championship action in Muskerry is down for decision with replays in both Junior ‘A’ hurling and football, while and there is also the reigning champions Iveleary putting their title on the line when they face Aghinagh in a quarter-final of Junior Football Championship.

That game is down for decision at Clondrohid on Saturday evening and the title holders will enter the fray as favourites. Aghinagh will be no pushover however as they have been involved in competitive championship action in recent weeks.

They defeated Dripsey following a replay and following same they surmounted the Éire Óg challenge. They will be well prepared for their encounter with Iveleary with Declan Ambrose, Donal Corkery, Alan Hourihan, Jason McCarthy and William Coakley all likely to be to the forefront of their quest for victory.

Iveleary have excellent footballers in their ranks however including inter-county player Cathal Voughan, Brian Cronin, Donal Cotter, Barry Murphy and Finbarr McSweeney and they are fancied to have the edge.

The Junior Football Championship replay involving Kilmichael and Kilmurry will certainly bring a large attendance to Macroom on Sunday evening and another entertaining hours football is anticipated between two good football sides.

Peter Kelleher who is in top form at the moment is sure to pose problems for Kilmurry and others, who will figure prominently are Simon Foley, James O’Leary and Conor Cotter.

Kilmurry will be hoping James White, David O’Halloran, William Buckley, Liam Long and Kevin Barrett will all be at their best in a contest that is sure to be closely contested with a point or two deciding the issue.

The Junior Hurling Championship replay between Blarney and Donoughmore will also take place on Sunday evening and the latter will be hoping not to pay dearly for their carelessness on Sunday last when they left what appeared to be certain victory slip from their grasp.

Blarney commenced last Sunday’s game without a few minors who could have made a significant impression so their starting team on Sunday will be stronger.

Shane Healy is a huge loss to Donoughmore and they will be hoping that those on duty will play to their potential for the full hour to enable them to qualify for a mid Cork final against Ballinora.
