had their moments over the hour. The winners had good displays by Barry Coffey, Fionn Herlihy, Michael Walsh, Brian O’Gorman, George Pendle, Brian O’Sullivan and Cathal O’Sullivan.

Clyda were best served by Chris Kenny, Cian O’Sullivan, Kenneth Fitzgerald, Chris Buckley, Seamus Ronayne and James Buckley. Early exchanges saw the sides level 0-1, 0-2 and 0-3 each. Points for the Mourneabbe­y side by Seamus Ronayne and Chris Buckley gave them a 0-5 to 0-3 lead.

Clyda were denied two good goal scoring chances in this half when Chris Noonan saved well from Daniel O’Callaghan with James Buckley being denied on the line by Shane Frewen. Ballygibli­n struck a purple patch and good play by Barry Coffey to Michael Walsh led to a goal by Shane Cahill. Cathal O’Sullivan followed with a point.

Two pointed frees by Chris Buckley had them level for the 4th time 1-4 to 0-7. Shane Cahill and Cian O’Sullivan swapped a point 1-5 to 0-8. In the closing moments Joseph O’Sullivan with a free gave Ballygibli­n an interval lead 1-6 to 0-8.

Clyda did well in the opening 10 minutes of the second half. They had a number of wides. They had six points by the 45th minute to just two for Ballygibli­n 0-14 to 1-8.

The Rovers failed to score again until the dying moments. In between Ballygibli­n had two pointed frees by O’Sullivan before substitute James Mullins struck for two goals in quick succession that saw them move 3-10 to 0-14 clear.

Clyda tried hard to get a goal to get back in the hunt. They were denied by a solid Ballygibli­n back line who held firm. In the dying moments Chris Buckley pointed a free that was followed by the final whistle.
