However if you are new to an area, if family have moved away, if you are living on your own, if a particularly difficult situation arises it might be more difficult to access friendships, support and social interaction. To respond to these situations Le Cheile FRC facilitates the
who meet weekly. The group knits regularly for the neo natal unit in Cork University Maternity hospital and to celebrate UN International Day of the Family in May 2016 the group “Yarn Bombed” the Le Cheile FRC building. •
Laugh and Craft Group Mallow Integration Forum
The objective of Mallow Integration Forum is to facilitate the integration of new communities and Irish society in Mallow.
The Forum recently celebrated Africa Day. Over 160 people from across the community attended. It was a celebration of the diversity and culture from the continent of Africa. Food was shared and representations of the culture of African countries. took the form of dance, pictures or verbal presentations. •
Parent Advocacy Group
The group provides peer support for parents of children with a disability. The aim of the group is to enable parents to be the best advocates for their children. The group meets on a six weekly basis. •
Getting On Line Course
This is a basic course for those who are not familiar with the internet and consequently can be considered to be isolated.
It is a six week programme and depending on demand is provided a number of times each year.
