It was only in the closing stages of this half that the game really game to life Ballygibli­n who missed a number of scoring chances in this half levelled matters when Cathal O’Mahony set up Dylan Reidy-Price for a well taken point. At the otherend Kilworth moved ahead when Jamie Kenneally placed Jeremy Saich while another pointed free by Brian Sheehan moved his side two clear in injury time as they held a 0-7 to 0-5 cushion at the break.

On the changeover Ballygibli­n were first into the action. Joseph O’Sullivan who was very effective from play and frees forced parity with two frees by the 37th minute. However as the half went on Kilworth slowly built the momentum with Eoin McGrath, David Twomey, Jeremy Saich, Cormac Donnellan, Brian Sheehan, Jamie Kenneally and Michael Wade going very well.

Cormac Donnellan with a fine point moved them in front and they followed with points by Brian Sheehan (2) Cormac Donnellan, Jamie Sheehan, Jeremy Saich and David Twomey to move into a 0-14 to 0-9 lead by the 51st minute. As the game entered the concluding stages Kilworth were unable to stretch their lead any further.

Instead it was Ballygibli­n after making a number of positional switches that thundered into the tie with Michael Lewis, Lorcan Finn, Cathal O’Mahony, Joseph O’Sullivan, James Mullins, George Pendle, Dylan Reidy Price and the O’Sullivan brothers featuring strongly. Joseph O’Sullivan pointed a free before George Pendle cut through the Kilworth defence and picked out the well placed Dylan Reidy-Price who netted from close range.

Further pressure saw Joseph O’Sullivan with another free in the 56th minute draw level at 0-14 to 1-11. With a place in the final at stake both teams battled hard for supremacy.

In the end Kilworth forced a free back in their own half backline in the 59th minute that centre back David Twomey pointed. They held on for a close win despite Ballygibli­n’s best efforts to force extra time.
