Killavulle­n minors come good in extra-time against St Dominics

In the opening minutes Eric O’Donoghue and Paul O’Sullivan exchanged a point. The first goal came in the 4th minute when Patrick Angland and Michael Fresh worked well for Seamus Fox who scored a great goal. Glanworth recovered well from this set back and a series of points by Jack Coughlan, Stephen Condon and a goal by Dylan Mullins had them 1-5 to 1-1 clear after 15 minutes. Glanworth pushed on further with points by Dylan Connolly and Eric O’Donoghue with Killavulle­n having a point by Padraigh Looney. By the 20th minute Glanworth led 1-7 to 1-3.

Killavulle­n battled back well. Seamus Fox was outstandin­g at wing back with Eoin Buckley, Paul O’Sullivan, Michael Fresh and Jack O’Connor showing well. Good play by Paul O’Sullivan, Eoin Buckley and James Fitzpatric­k led to a well executed point by Michael Fresh. They closed the gap with an injury time pointed free by Jack O’Connor that left just two points bertween the sides at the break 1-7 to 1-5.

On the restart Jack O’Connor placed James Fitzpatric­k for a goal. Jack Creedon added a point in the 37th minute 2-6 to 1-7. Glanworth came back well and good play by Stephen Condon and Eric O’Donogheu led to a great goal by Jack Coughlan that put his side 2-7 to 2-6 clear.

Killavulle­n got back on level terms when Paul O’Sullivan Michael Fresh and Sean Browne all worked well for James Fitzpatick who kicked a great point 2-7 each. Killavulle­n were awarded a penalty when Paul O’Sullivan was brought down. Padraigh Looney cooly dispatched to the net in the 57th minute. Glanworth tried very hard but were denied by the post on two occasions.

In the dying moments it was another ball that came back off the post that fell to Conor Dennehy who goaled and levelled for the 4th time. Deep in injury time Glanworth had a good chance of a winning point but good defensive work by Ian Roche saved the day and they finished 3-7 each.

In extra time Glanworth dominated the opening 10 minute period. Eric O’Donoghue had two points in this period one from play that saw Glanworth ahead 3-9 to 3- 7 at the interval.

Killavulle­n made a few switches and the introducti­on of Nathan Linehan made a huge difference. They dominated the half backline and midfield sectors ensuring their attack were in regular supply. Good play by Seamus Fox led to a point by Michael Fresh. In the 3rd minute Eoin Buckley and Nathan Linehan put Jack O’Connor in for a point that levelled 3-9 each.

The turning point came when a Glanworth attack was broken up by Patrick Angland who soloed up field linking with Michael Fresh and Paul O’Sullivan placing James Fitzpatric­k for a well taken point 3-10 to 3-9. Michael Fresh followed with a well taken goal after good play by Jack O’Connor and James Fitzpatric­k. A heavy tackle on Seamus Fox saw Fox take a quick free to Jack O’Connor who made it 4-11 to 3-9.

In the dying moments Paul O’Sullivan placed Nathan Linehan who sent over from a difficult angle. Killavulle­n now meet Knocknagre­e in the semi final.
