Cloyne Diocesan Youth Service seeking volunteers for Mallow project

- BILL BROWNE

THE Cloyne Diocesan Youth Service (CDYS) has issued an appeal for volunteers to support their projects in Mallow under the Youth Work Ireland initiative.

CDYS project leader Miriam Nyhan said the goodwill and assistance of the local community has always been an integral part of their operations.

“Volunteers form the backbone of the majority of notfor-profit organisations and without them groups such as the CDYS would cease to exist,” said Miriam.

“Today’s young people are finding things a little bit more challenging and need more support, but also young people like to have fun and participate and develop their talents with creative activities and to be involved socially,” she said.

With that in mind CDYS has send out a call to people living within the local community to share their knowledge and skills with the young people of Mallow and the surrounding area.

“If you have skills to offer across a range of activities such as arts, sport, music, drama or computer coding, or if you just love the idea ow working with people then we would love to hear from you,” said Miriam.

“All volunteers will be Garda vetted and will receive child protection and support. Anyone with a couple of hours to spare to work alongside professional youth workers and who would like to know more about what we do can visit www.cdys.ie or like our dedicated CDYS Youth Work Ireland Facebook page.

To find out how to volunteer your services contact Miriam Nyhan on 086 803 1206 (email Miriam@cdys.ie) or John Dunlea on 086 080 5400 (email john@cdys.ie.
