‘Supermac’ Pat to be special guest at the Charlevill­e Business awards

THE Charlevill­e Chamber of Commerce will host the upcoming business awards for the town and their guest speaker will be Pat McDonagh, owner of Supermacs.

Mr McDonagh is also the owner of the Charlevill­e Park Hotel where the awards ceremony will be hosted on Saturday, November 12.

This year, there will be 17 categories and 10 nomination­s in each category.

The President of Charlevill­e Chamber of Commerce, PJ McCarthy told The Corkman that an awards ceremony was an ideal “morale booster” for the town and the business community.

“These awards give due recognitio­n to the business community for all the hard work which they have done,” he said.

The nominees will be put forward by the public and will be announced next week and contacted by the Chamber of Commerce to give them their nomination badge. Then the nominates will be vetted by an independen­t panel who will look at several criteria before making their decision.

This year the categories are customer service ; fashion retailer; fast food restaurant; hair and beauty award; large business; large supermarke­t; best lunch; best new business; restaurant; services sector; best shop window; small business; food retail award; social media award; business man of the year ;business woman of the year and outstandin­g contributi­on award.

On the night, there will also be a fundraiser to help, ‘ The Fight for Fionn charity.’ Fionn Barry is a two year-old boy from Ballyhea who has a seriously debilitati­ng and life limiting illness and needs 24 hour care.
