Macroom GAA juvenile update

-

Under 10 Blitz:

MACROOM hosted the annual U-10 Padraig Dervin Blitz in conjunction with an inaugural U-9 Blitz. Aghabullogue, Dromtariffe and Duarigle Gaels were the visiting clubs.

The tournament was run in a league format, with all teams playing each other – three games for each team – and matches were 11-a-side, with the top two proceeding to a final. Macroom had 20 players in attendance and started well with a good win against Aghabullogue. They lost narrowly to Dromtariffe and Duarigle Gaels, finishing third in the group. A very strong Duarigle Gaels won the final.

Under 9 Blitz:

THIS too was run on a league format and in parallel with the U-10 games. Again matches were 11-a-side. Macroom had a panel of 14 players. They had big wins against Aghabullogue and Dromtarriffe and had qualified for the final after two games.

Duarigle Gaels was the opposition in the final but Macroom conceded four goals in the first half. They put in a huge effort in the second period, reducing the deficit to two goals but couldn’t close the gap any further.

They deserve great credit for their mighty effort in the second half. In what was a fantastic morning of football, Duarigle won both competitions.

U-15s:

They played Sam Maguire’s in a P2 league game in TCP on Monday, September 4. They performed well but the concession of some ‘soft’ goals proved crucial.

U-6s:

They continue to train every Saturday. morning. They have played Kilmurry and Éire Óg, and will soon take on Canovee and Clondrohid.

U-13/14s:

They travelled to play Carrignavar in a league playoff quarter-final. Unfortunately Carrignavar were better on the night and won comfortably..
