encounter including well known Cork footballers Peter Kelleher and Cathal Vaughan.

The students got off to a good start however when Kieran Murphy and Padraig Clifford raised white flags.

Ballincollig then replied with four points when John Miskella, Cian Dorgan twice and Ian Coughlan were on target.

The 2014 Champions did not consolidate their position further, however, as Paul Clifford scored three points for their opponents before the interval and they could not feel too confident at the interval when they led 0-6 to 0-5.

Ballincollig were more forceful in their attacking play following the break however and one felt they were well on the road to a victory when an Ian Coughlan point was followed by two Dorgan Minors from frees.

Daniel Daly from a free got a point back for CIT, but Ballincollig subsequently produced their best period of play. They scored three points in as many minutes when John Miskella, Rob Noonan and Cian Kiely were on target and they were well in control against depleted opponents who were unable to launch any worthwhile attacks.

Cian Dorgan sent the ball between the uprights from another free in the 47th minute and three minutes later the game was well and truly over when Rob Noonan found the CIT net in superb fashion.

The goal scorer was unfortunate however to receive a red card shortly after so he will miss next Saturday’s quarter final encounter with Castlehaven at Clonakilty. Ballincollig did not score again following that major as they emptied the bench while substitute Noel Duggan got a point back for CIT
