MACROOM native Dr Margaret Linehan, who is the Head of Humanities at Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) was presented with an International Award from the British Academy of Management (BAM) recently.

This is in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the field of management. The award is made by invitation only.

She was nominated by Prof Cary Cooper, President of BAM and Prof Nic Beech, chair of Bam, and supported by the BAM selection panel. Prof Beech presented the award to Dr Linehan in recognition of the publication of 17 books and over 65 internationally peer-reviewed journal articles. She has also complied 10 reports, and 12 book chapters and attended 80 international conference presentations for her valuable contribution to the Irish Academy of Management.

Dr Linehan said: “I am honoured and delighted to receive this award and I was surprised to learn that only four people internationally were nominated for the award.”

Dr Linehan was presented with her award at BAM’s 30th annual conference, hosted by the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK, which was attended by 960 delegates.

This is the first time that BAM has presented this award to an Irish academic, which recognises Cork Institute of Technoloy as a quality research institution.
