IT’S ‘SPORT FOR ALL’ IN FREEMOUNT
A NEW, state of the art, multi-use sports area has been opened in Freemount.
“We are blessed here in Freemount with all the fine facilities that are available to the community and now we are putting the icing on the cake with the opening today of this multi-use sports area,” development association chairman Paddy Collins said in his welcoming address at the opening of this brand new state of the art facility in Freemount.
Paddy went on to commend everyone who worked so hard to bring the project to fruition.
Michael John O’ Regan, chairman of the local GAA club, explained how the new sports area is a joint venture between the development association and the GAA. “This is a wonderful amenity which will be used by the school children, the juvenile and adult clubs, ladies football, and various other groups and we thank everybody who contributed so generously,” Michael John said.
Fr. Padraig Keogh PP was on hand to bless the new facility. “We pray that all who come in here may be renewed in spirit, mind and body, and we ask the Lord’s blessing on this new place,” he said.
Project manager Michael O’Regan, who was credited for his outstanding work on the sports area, did the honours and officially opened the facility - which was immediately filled with local children who will, no doubt, enjoy using it into the future.
The all-weather, floodlit sports area can be booked by individuals, groups or clubs for just a small fee to cover lighting and insurance costs.
